Mom, Dad, and I went to Shady Grove today so that I could learn how to give myself all of my shots prior to the collection of my eggs. My dad did not want to be a part of the process, so it was just me and my mom. I learned how to give myself 3 different types of shots that I will need to administer to my stomach. (I hate needles. I am terrified of having to stick a needle in my belly.) I know I will be able to do it.
All the prep, was pretty easy. I don't mind that, and am not worried about that. It's the actual sticking myself. (I still turn my head when I get a shot, or have blood drawn.) I can't very well do that this time.
My mom has to do one shot. She has to give me one shot in the upper backside 36 hours before the take the eggs. She practiced a few times. I have faith in my mom. I know she can do it. I don't mind my mom doing it.
Shots will begin on day 2 of my period coming up. Possibly next Sunday. UGH!!
you will get used to the shots in the belly--they feel like bee stings--though try to do them in various areas (like spread them across--I was told inside the hip area and across)--you will bruise. just do it fast--the longer it took me to do a shot the more freaked out i became. lol as for the shot in the bum--i suggest laying on your bed with your face in a pillow (in case you feel the need to scream) and have her count 1, 2, 3 and jab it in. the bum shots usually use a larger needle so they need a little more force. once it's done it doesn't hurt--it's just the anticipation of it that hurts. good luck and reach out if you need to--been there!

Deletegood luck friend - this would totally freak me out too. I can't watch shots or blood being drawn either - and I don't want any part of the play-by-play, I always tell the person, "don't say a word, just do it"
ReplyDeleteI guess this is just another one of those things that will make you stronger. Pretty soon you'll be able to compete in the strongest woman competitions. ;-)
HAHA!! Thanks so much!! I am the same way!! I guess it will. I had wanted to be a doctor when I was little...a pediatrician...haha...and they had to learn how to give shots and stuff....I know they arent the ones who do it...any maybe I could give shots toother people. But not to myself. I have had so many in my life. I know all of this is just going to make me stronger. :-)
